Bulldog owner says her breeding partner broke into her apartment and stole two puppies – NBC 7 San Diego

The San Diego Police Department’s Burglary Unit is investigating a case of stolen puppies taken from a San Diego breeder’s apartment.

Two English Bulldog puppies, worth around $5,000 each, were snatched from the breeder’s apartment on Thursday. The breeder says that if the puppies are not found quickly, they may not survive.

The beginnings of this litter of English Bulldog puppies were not easy. Two died during childbirth, two others needed CPR to jump-start their hearts after childbirth and two more were robbed.

“I didn’t think anyone would steal a week-old puppy, you know,” the breeder, who only wanted to be identified as Justin, told NBC 7.

Justin said he brokered a deal, via text, with a woman to allow his male English bulldog to mate with his female named Cherry. He said he agreed to give the owner of the male bulldog a puppy from the litter.

Now Justin is accusing his breeding partner of breaking into his apartment and stealing two puppies from his dog sitter.

“This pregnancy was very difficult for me too, but we got through it and now I feel like two family members are being taken away,” Justin said.

Experts recommend that English bulldog newborns stay with their mother for the first eight weeks under controlled conditions to have the best chance of survival.

“I don’t know what kind of environment they’re in right now. It can be a difficult environment. I know they have to be with their mother,” he added.

Both puppies have since come forward on social media. Justin says they appeared in a video posted on the breeding partner’s page. The location and conditions, however, are not obvious.

Justin says what happened to the puppies isn’t just a disagreement, it’s a crime.

Potential loads; grand theft, assault and home invasion, according to the SDPD.

At this time, investigators have no named suspects and have not made any arrests.

Justin said he met the other breeder at an English Bulldog meet-up group and their dogs had played a few dates already, but he regrets not getting more information, including references.
